South Africa under-20 coach Khabo Zondo blamed poor preparations after his side lost 2-0 to Lesotho in an African Youth Champions qualifier match at the Dobsonville Stadium on Saturday.

"Our opponents had been in camp for almost two months now. We did not hold camp during the World Cup and that affected our preparations," the former Golden Arrows coach said.

“I did not have enough time with the team to prepare for this game and get to know our weaknesses and strengths. We will work on that now and hope to change things in Lesotho."

The second-leg takes place in Maseru in August.
