Kaizer Chiefs brushed aside Golden Arrows 2-0 in an Absa Premiership game which was played at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Wednesday night.

The victory propels the Amakhosi to position three on the league table, while Abafana Bes'thende remain sixth on the log standings.

Amakhosi recorded their second consecutive league win thanks to two goals from Bernard Parker and Siphiwe Tshabalala.

The two sides shared possession almost evenly, but without creating any real clear-cut chances in the opening stages of the encounter.

Nkanyiso Mngwengwe tried to beat Chiefs goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo with an overhead-kick in the 23rd minute, but the ball went wide of the target.

But six minutes later ,at the other end of the park, Bernard Parker fired Chiefs into the lead with a well-taken header from Ramahlwe Mphahlele's pin-point cross.

Khuzwayo was then called into action in the 32nd minute, saving Wayde Jooste's deflected cross as Arrows looked to grabbed an equalizing goal.

Arrows launched a quick counter-attack on the stroke of half-time, but Eric Mathoho made a crucial block to ensure that the first-half ended with Chiefs leading 1-0.

Vuyani Ntanga was allowed space by the Chiefs defence seven minutes after the restart, but the forward unleashed a shot which missed the target.

Abafana Bes'thende then launched an attack in the 58th minute and this time Andile Fikizolo's effort was brilliantly saved by Khuzwayo in the Chiefs goal.

Pressure was mounting on the Chiefs defence as Jooste also forced former Bafana Bafana international Khuzwayo into three minutes later.

With Arrows failing to take their chances upfront, they were punished at the back as Siphiwe Tshabalala headed home Joseph Molangoane's cross to seal Chiefs' win in the 79th minute.
