Late Aces fightback denies Dikwena

A stoppage-time brace from Lebogang Manyama and Judas Mosemaedi earned Mpumalanga Black Aces a 2-2 draw against Platinum Stars at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on Wednesday evening.

Aces' youngster Moseamedi emerged from the bench to keep AmaZayoni tied on points with their Phokeng-based counterparts after seven rounds of league fixtures.

Ndumiso Mabena had handed Dikwena a two-goal lead with both his goals coming from 12 yards, before the late comeback by the hosts.

Aces were dealt an early blow with star player Aubrey Ngoma forced off the field with a suspected hamstring injury. Tshidiso Tukane replaced the former Orlando Pirates attacker.

Things went from bad to worse for the hosts in the 21st minute with Dikwena awarded a penalty after Collins Mbesuma fouled fellow striker Mabena inside the area.

The Dikwena hitman shook himself off and duly slotted the ball past Shu-aib Walters in the Aces' goal.

Masibusane Zongo, who enjoyed a superb evening, was unlucky to see his left-footed free-kick canon off the post nine minutes later as Stars continued to boss the chances.

AmaZayoni lacked fluidity and composure in front of goal in the first half, but came out firing after the break with Mbesuma unlucky to see his shot fly past Bouna Coundoul before hitting the woodwork and away from danger.

Having scored his first goal since May, Mabena found his second from the penalty spot on the hour mark.

Muhsin Ertugral's troops looked dead and buried heading into second-half stoppage time, but Manyama pulled one back before Moseamedi scored the equaliser with virtually the final kick of the game.

The draw keeps both teams' unbeaten record in the league intact with Aces stretching their unblemished record to 13 matches, carrying over from last term.
