Martitzburg smash four past Stars

Maritzburg United finished their Multichoice Diski season with a easy 4-1 victory over Free State Stars at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Sunday.

The home side opened the scoring in the first minute of the game through attacker Lindokuhle Zondi, before Mlodni Dlamini doubled the lead after 13 minutes.

Mahier Davids' side looked confident in their attacking intent after racing to the early lead, and mid-way through the half, Lebogang Maboe made it 3-0.

Zondi completed his brace in the 40th minute to make it 4-0, but the scoring for the half was not over yet. Ea Lla Koto managed to pull one back from the spot in stoppage-time.

After seeing a penalty saved, the rebound was smashed home, for a 4-1 scoreline at the break. There were no goals scored in the second half.

The result sees Maritzburg finish in sixth while Stars remain in ninth place.
