Chippa United right-back Mpho Mvelase says he feels rejuvinated after a good six months at the Premier Soccer League.

The 28-year-old re-joined the club in January after a failed spell at Orlando Pirates and has not looked back, saying he is eager to build on his good performances next season.

“I look back on the last six months with smile. I think they were the best of my football career if you look where I came from,” Mvelase told his club’s website.

“I came following a difficult time in my life as a footballer. The reception from day one was good and it did not take me long to adapt having had a stint with the club in the past.”

Mvelase says although Chippa went into the final day in danger of the drop, he never though they were going down.

“Playoffs and relegation were never in our minds,” he said. “We knew that we can turn things around and we did with the win against SuperSport United and [draw against] Free State Stars.

“It was a collective effort from everyone at the club; the players and the technical team. The support we got from the management and our supporters was fundamental.

“It is important to collect points early in the season so you do not find yourself fighting for survival at the end of the season.

“Next season will be interesting, we reached the semifinals twice [MTN8 and Nedbank Cup] and it would be nice to take things a step further come next season.”
