Davids named Maritzburg coach

Maritzburg United confirmed Fadlu Davids as their permanent head coach on Tuesday following a successful spell as the interim boss last season.

Davids lifted the Team of Choice off the relegation zone and powered them into a top eight finish with a record of six wins, seven draws and three losses from 16 matches.

"It’s been five-and-a-half years since I retired and started my coaching journey. It’s an honour and privilege to be given this opportunity," Davids said.

“I've had the privilege of being mentored by Ernst Middendorp and believe that I am now ready for this challenge," added Davids.

Davids took over after the resignation of two coaches and assembled a strong youthful squad to compete to secure the club their second ever top eight finish.
