Platinum Stars midfielder Katlego Otladisa has his sights set on uplifting Dikwena from the bottom of the Absa Premiership table.

Otladisa emerged as the best player when Dikwena advanced to the quarterfinals of the Telkom Knockout after defeating Maritzburg United 3-1 on penalties on Friday night. Otladisa is eager to translate his form to the Absa Premiership when Dikwena host Ajax Cape Town at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace this coming Wednesday. Otladisa has featured for Dikwena in the last four matches and he wants to cement his place in Roger De Sa’s side.

“It’s very special. Not many people my age go to the pitch with some of the best players in the country. It’s a lovely feeling. I want more of it. I want to represent Dikwena and fight for my team. It’s special to me that I play with the guys I grew up watching on TV. I loved the team even when I was at Athletico FC. I have always loved the guys. They are my role models. I look up to them. They give me advice and I listen to them. They push me towards the next level and I love every moment that I am here,” said Otladisa.

The 21-year-old is blessed with skill and pace. He finds it relatively easy to eliminate players. Dox, as the lad from Rustenburg North is affectionately known, wants to improve his game so that he can realize his dream of going abroad.

“From way back I was told that I must be brave and not be afraid. I have to go at defenders. That’s what I am good at. Even coach Roger, coach Milton and my teammates they all want me to work on my strength. I get pushed over a lot so I have to build on my physique. The physical trainer told me we will work on it. I need to deliver more quality crosses. I want people to recognize my talent. It’s time to put in the work. I have to deliver. I am now focusing on uplifting the team and doing good for the team. My ultimate goal is going to Europe. I want to play abroad by the age of 23,” said Otladisa.

Otladisa will be expected to play a vital role when Dikwena take on Ajax. The youngster is confident that he and his teammates will do well to move away from the bottom.

“We have to win this game. We can’t afford to drop any points at this time. We are motivated and I have no doubt that we will get the three points. After getting our first victory over the weekend, we feel we have to maintain the momentum,” said Otladisa.

Kickoff is at 7.30pm
