What the teams are saying

Cape Town City captain Robyn Johannes: “There’s nothing personal with AmaZulu. In fact, I had a good time there, they offered me an opportunity at a time when I was going through the ups and downs in my career,” he said.

“But it was also the period that made me stronger, it brought me to situations that were out of my control and, in that way, it made me grow up. But I’m expecting a tough time against my former club on Friday. They’re a good team, with a good coach, and we know we will have to be at our best to get a result.”

AmaZulu midfielder Ovidy Karuru: "I know that it is the first time we are playing against Cape Town City. But we have seen their previous games and they are a very good team. You can't take that away from them,” he said.

"However, they have their weaknesses. They are conceding goals. So, we need to work on our finishing. We have to go there fully prepared. Since it's our first meeting, we need to make history by winning the game.”
