As football fans across South Africa anxiously await the spectacular final showpiece of yet another exciting Nedbank Cup season, the money experts who do good are anticipating to kick start the much-acclaimed Nedbank Ke Yona Team Search.

The Nedbank Ke Yona Team Search is a football talent search that is aimed at unearthing and grooming South Africa’s most skilled players nationwide. The talent search is spearheaded by prolific football figures Ephraim “Shakes” Mashaba, Khabo Zondo and Mike “Sporo” Mangena, who are supported by a group of highly experienced assistant coaches.

The 2018 try-outs will kick-off in Limpopo, Polokwane at the magnificent Peter Mokaba Stadium, a venue that was previously not part of the try-out provinces, however with an increase in demand from young hopefuls in the region, Nedbank was delighted to make the province an addition for the search.

“Last year, we did not have try-outs in Polokwane, with that said, we realized that from the young men who trialed in Johannesburg, a fair amount of players were from Limpopo. As Nedbank is about finding solutions, a decision was made to add Limpopo to our list of trial venues so as to provide young hopefuls with a chance at a career in professional football. We are excited to see what the players have in store for us.” said an ecstatic Tutu Skosana, Sponsorship Manager: Football Properties at Nedbank. “If there is one thing we know about Limpopo is that there is talent in abundance. Aubrey Modiba is a clear example of the talent that was unearthed in Limpopo.” concluded Skosana.

Post-Man as Modiba is often referred to, has partnered with the Nedbank Sports Trust to aid learners from his alma mater and the community at large by making their football dreams come true with a community-based sports centre, which will be unveiled to the public on Thursday, 26 April 2018.

“I am a big dreamer and I believe in assisting others to dream big and make their dreams comes true. It is a great honour for me to have left this school as a young learner filled with knowledge and dreams. Today, I return as a person who can assist in making the dreams of others a reality,” affirmed Modiba.

Nedbank also encourages the realization of financial dreams through the Stokvel offering. The bank has introduced a new, innovative Stokvel Account that gives great offers to Stokvel members and has gone on a drive to educate members on how the money they generate could be invested or put to better use.

Desmond Osman, Head: Marketing: Middle Markets at Nedbank commented, “Financial education of Stokvel members is essential to increase awareness of how better investment and management of money could result in bigger benefits to members. Nedbank’s goal is to educate Stokvel members to change their thinking around money – taking them from consumers to real investors.”

Entries into the Nedbank Ke Yona Team Search were closed on Sunday, 15 April 2018 and are for males between the ages of 18 and 23. Trialists need to bring a form of identification or a certified copy of their existing ID document.
