Amakhosi beat Downs in Diski Shield final

Kaizer Chiefs came from a goal down to claim a 3-1 victory over Mamelodi Sundowns in the inaugural MultiChoice Diski Shield final at a packed Makhulong Stadium on Saturday.

The Brazilians could perhaps have extended their lead, but Promise Mkhuma and Keletso Makgalwa were off target with a couple of chances on goal.

At the other end, Chiefs striker Itumeleng Shopane was keeping the 'Downs defence on their toes and his efforts paid off when he earned the Soweto side a penalty three minutes before the interval, which Yusuf Bunting slotted home.

Chiefs took the lead for the first time seven minutes after half time in Tembsia as Katlego Ntsabeleng went on a superb solo run before beating goalkeeper Koketso Tshabalala.

After Bunting had a shot hit the post, Arthur Zwane's Amakhosi charges sealed the trophy 17 minutes from time when Given Thibedi converted another penalty.
