AmaZulu fight back to hold City

Cape Town City fought back to hold AmaZulu FC to a 2-2 draw in an Absa Premiership match at the Cape Town Stadium on Wednesday night.

The draw left the Citizens and Usuthu placed 11th and 12th respectively on the league standings.

The Citizens got off to a bright start with Suprise Ralani and Roland Putsche combing well in midfield in the opening stages of the match.

Ralani managed to open the scoring with a low effort which went into the bottom corner to make it 1-0 to City in the 16th minute.

The momentum was with the hosts and they got their second goal nine minutes later when Putsche netted with a strike from outside the box to make it 2-0 to City.

The visitors then took control of the match and pulled one back just after the half-hour mark with Bonginkosi Ntuli netting his ninth league goal of the season to make it 2-1 after being set-up by S'phesihle Maduna.

The comeback was completed in the 42nd minute when Ntuli grabbed his brace with a tap in to make it 2-2 for AmaZulu heading into the halftime break.

Mpho Makola and Mduduzi Mdantsane were introduced at the beginning of the second-half as the home side looked to restore their lead against Usuthu.

AmaZulu goalkeeper Neil Boshoff was called into action in the 65th minute and he denied Ralani with a great save.

Lehlohonolo Majoro was replaced by Talent Chawapiwa as the visitors looked to take the lead for the first time on the night.

The two teams launched attacks in the closing stages of the encounter as they both searched for the late winning goal.

However, they could not find the back of the net and ultimately, City, and AmaZulu settled for a 2-2 draw in the Mother City.
