Maritzburg, Arrows meet in derby

KwaZulu-Natal rivals Maritzburg United and Golden Arrows will meet in an Absa Premiership clash at Harry Gwala Stadium on Wednesday, kick-off at 19h30.

Maritzburg come into the game off the back of a 1-1 draw away to Bloemfontein Celtic in their last league outing.

The Pietermaritzburg-based side has recorded four wins, four draws and four losses from their 12 home matches this season.

The Team of Choice is placed sixth on the Absa Premiership log with 33 points from 24 matches.

Arrows also played to a draw in their last league outing, holding leaders Kaizer Chiefs to a goalless stalemate.

The Durban side has recorded just two away wins from 11 matches so far this season.

Abafana Bes’thende are placed 12th on the Absa Premiership log with 27 points from 24 matches.

In head-to-head stats, Maritzburg and Arrows have met in 13 league matches since 2005/06.

Abafane Bes’thende have claimed eight wins, the Team of Choice three, and there have been just two draws.

Maritzburg have won just two of their six home matches against Arrows down the years, suffering three losses in the process.

When the teams met earlier this season, the Team of Choice won 1-0 in Durban thanks to a goal from Evans.
