The Amakhosi machine continues

Another win for Kaizer Chiefs as Mandla Masango’s penalty on the stroke of halftime gave Amakhosi a 1-0 Absa Premiership win over Maritzburg United at Soccer City.
The result takes Chiefs to seven wins out of seven in the League this season.
The first attempt at goal came in the 78th minute from the visiting team as Mondi Cele’s burst toward goal ended with a rasping shot that swerved wide of Brilliant Khuzwayo’s far post.
In the 24th minute Chiefs got numbers into the danger area, but Maritzburg defended the danger and broke on the counter attack.
The move ended with Banda blasting a shot over the cross bar from distance, when it was five men against four and Maritzburg could have punished Chiefs if they chose the right option.
Two minutes later, Bernard Parker flashed a right footed attempt over the bar, but he was always off balance and never really composed himself properly.
In the 29th minute Amakhosi had no excuse not to be in the lead when George Maluleka made the wrong choice to pass instead of shooting at goal when Chiefs were three against one inside the box. Moments later, Mandla Masango could not direct his effort on target from the right side of the danger area.
Then Maluleka missed another very good opportunity when, in the 35th minute, he made a great run into the box to get onto Parker's precision cross, but he could only glance his header wide of goal.
Then on the stroke of halftime Chiefs were awarded a penalty when Tsepo Masilela went down in the area. Mandla Masango stepped up to make it 1-0 to Chiefs.
A few minutes into the second half and Chiefs nearly furthered their lead when Siboniso Gaxa got into a good position before crossing to the far post to find Tsepo Masilela, but his volley flew across goal and wide of the target.
Chiefs nearly had another goal when Mandla Masango let rip with a powerful shot on the run, but Virgil Vries did well to tip the ball over the crossbar in the 72nd minute.
With eleven minutes to go, another opportunity is wasted by Chiefs when Masango goes around the keeper, but is not decisive enough with his final pass and the opportunity is wasted.
Reneilwe Letsholonyane saw his shot saved near the end of the match and Chiefs will go home disappointed that they did not take their opportunities to score more goals.
