SuperSport secure a draw with Maritzburg

A late goal from Jeremy Brockie saw SuperSport United twice come from a goal down to secure a 2-2 draw with Maritzburg United in an Absa Premiership match at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday.

The Team of Choice claimed an early lead through Mondli Cele in the eighth minute and held the advantage up to just past the midway point of the second half, when Clayton Daniels equalised to make it 1-1.

However, parity lasted only a few minutes before Kwanda Mngonyama struck in the 75th to put the visitors ahead once again.

Matsatsantsa’s saviour Brockie popped up in the 88th minute to make it 2-2 and ensure the spoils were shared on the day.

The result leaves SuperSport in eighth place on the log on 17 points from 13 matches, while Maritzburg remain bottom with seven points from their 13 outings.

The teams will be in action again next weekend: the Tshwane side will face Polokwane City away, while the Pietermaritzburg team welcome Orlando Pirates to the Harry Gwala Stadium.
