Cele helps AmaZulu hold Celtic

Bloemfintein Celtic and AmaZulu drew 1-1 in an Absa Premiership match at the Dr Molemela Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The draw sees Siwelele move to seventh place on the league standings, while Usuthu also climb up to ninth place on the log.

The two teams launched attacks in the opening stages of the game as they search for an early goal.

Mhlengi Cele, who scored as AmaZulu beat Ajax Cape Town 2-1 at home in midweek, was looking lively for the visitors.

The Zimbabwe international came close to scoring when his header narrowly missed the target in the 26th minute.

Phunya Sele Sele and Usuthu were struggling to create clear-cut chances.

Celtic forward Kabelo Dlamini decided to try his luck from range in the 32nd minute, but his effort was parried away by Siyabonga Mbatha.

Celtic and AmaZulu were locked at 0-0 at half-time following an evenly contested first-half.

Veselin Jelusic, the Celtic head coach, decided to make a change 15 minutes into the second-half.

Tshegofatso Mabasa replaced Dlamini, who was tightly marked by AmaZulu defender Sadate Ouro-Akoriko.

AmaZulu full-back Thembela Sikhakhane tried to score with a volley, but his effort flew over the crossbar in the 63rd minute.

The deadlock was finally broken with Jacky Motshegwa hit the back of the net with a well-taken shot to make it 1-0 to Celtic with eight minutes left.

However, AmaZulu striker Mhlengi Cele snatched a late equalizing goal in the 86th minute which ensured that the game ended in a 1-1 stalemate.
