Baroka FC hold Limpopo rivals TTM to goalless draw

Baroka FC held Limpopo rivlas Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila to a 0-0 draw in a 2020-21 DStv Premiership match at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Tuesday.

The result moved TTM up to 11th on the league standings and four move points clear of the relegation play-off spot ahead of Chippa United match's at home to Bloemfontein Celtic later today. A point is enough for Bakgaga to climb back into the top eight.

Vhadau Vha Damani created the best of the chances throughout the course of the match but Oscarine Masuluke stood firm in the Baroka goal.

Both goalkeepers were forced into a save in the opening six minutes with Gerarld Phiri Jr and Celimpilo Ngema on target for either side in the early exchanges of the tie.

Masuluke made a superb save in the 13th minute to deny Thabo Mnyamane from close range. The forward looked sure to score when the ball fell on his left foot, but Masuluke got down well to keep the score goalless.

As the other end of the pitch, Cheslyn Jampies whistled an acrobatic effort inches wide of goal but TTM looked the more likely to score the opener.

Ngema burst into the area on the cusp of half-time but Masuluke rushed off his line to deny the Tshakhuma midfielder.

The duo continued their battle after the break with Ngema sending a low shot at goal from range, but again the towering Bakgaga shot-stopper denied the visitors.

Baroka had a late chance to steal the points as the ball fall on Bonginkosi Makume's head in stoppage-time, but he could only succeed in sending his header attempt well over Washington Arubi's goal as the game ultimately ended in a 0-0 draw.
