Polokwane’s Peter Mokaba stadium to host 2025 Carling Knockout final

The 2025 Carling Knockout champions will be crowned in the province of peace, unity and prosperity on 6 December.

“We are proud to announce that the Carling Knockout final, between Orlando Pirates and Marumo Gallants, is heading to Peter Mokaba Stadium, right in the heart of Limpopo,” said Carling Black Label’s brand director Kerryn Greenleaf.

This fierce grudge match will decide which of these two teams will join Stellenbosch FC and Magesi FC to have their names etched on the Carling Knockout cup.

The Buccaneers and Babina Noko both overcame challenging semifinal clashes in Durban to reach the finale.

“Fans were treated to pure football drama in the semifinals. A sold-out Moses Mabhida Stadium saw both Orlando Pirates and Richards Bay FC leave everything on the pitch — with the Buccaneers coming out victorious,” said Greenleaf.

“Over at King Zwelethini Stadium, Golden Arrows and Marumo Gallants kept us all on edge until the very last kick. It went all the way to penalties, where Gallants’ experience shone through.

“Now, all roads lead to Polokwane on 6 December for what promises to be an electric final.”

The semifinals of the Carling Knockout lit up South African football. Champion fans took charge of the competition, with almost 140 000 votes cast to select the Man of the Match and take part in the Fak’iGoal Uzobona initiative.

Fak’iGoal Uzobona, which translates to Score a Goal and See, promotes the scoring of early goals. Each game starts with R90 000 up for grabs, with the prize money decreasing by R1 000 after each match.

The semifinals raised R170 000, with a combined R85 000 going to two lucky champion fans. Pirates received R48 000 courtesy of Tshepang Moremi’s goal in the 42nd minute. Abafana Bes’thende bagged R37 000 through Isaac Cisse’s 53rd-minute strike.

Abafana Bes’thende and Richards Bay’s players are now eligible to feature in the Carling All-Star team that will take on the Carling Knockout champions.

Champion fans can select their favourite players by dialling *120*660*UNIQUE CODE# and follow the prompts. Or they can go to the website www.carlingblacklabelcup.co.za (Ts&Cs apply, USSD 20c/20s).

One lucky champion fan will get to lead the Carling All-Star team after going through a grueling process to test their coaching acumen and arm them with the skills they will need to manage a side in a game of this magnitude.

“Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium will host the Carling Cup clash between the Carling Knockout champions and the Carling All-Stars on 13 December. One stage. One champion,” said Greenleaf.
