Duiker nets dream move
The former Golden Arrows and Black Leopards player is renowned for his calm demeanour and exquisite passing on the ball as well as his tough tackling off it. Duiker is expected to be the lynchpin of coach Clinton Larsen’s midfield, providing that first line of defence whilst helping distribute the ball to Joel Mogorosi and Lyle Lakay on the wing or Siyabonga Nontshinga and Kurt Lentjies up the middle.
Khumbulani Konco, Celtic CEO, has expressed his delight for having Duiker in Siwelele’s books.
"Duiker is already on board and we are delighted to have signed up a top class player of his calibre. He is a tremendous talent. We have been keeping a close eye on him and we invited him for trials, he impressed us, hence we wasted no time in bringing him to Bloemfontein. He is an experienced campaigner having played for Arrows and Leopards in the past and we are convinced he will contribute to the success of the club. It is important that we tighten up all the departments, considering that we want to compete for honours this season,” Konco said.
Duiker, who will have the chance to learn the intricacies of the Celtic midfield through Letladi Madubanya and John Arwuah with a greater opportunity of taking the starting role in the future, has described his move to Bloemfontein Celtic as a dream come true.
"It has been my childhood dream to play for a big club like Bloemfontein Celtic and finally my dream has become a reality. Celtic are a very big team and I'm happy to be part of their set-up,” he said.
“The other reason I joined Celtic was because they are an ambitious team and I want to help them win trophies this season. I do not expect to walk straight into the side but I'm prepared to roll up my sleeves and fight for my place.” he added.
Meanwhile, Celtic resume their league campaign against Ajax Cape Town at the Free State Stadium on September 16 (15:00).
