Thanda, Stellenbosch, Eagles consolidate top three
Thanda bounced back from their 0-0 draw against Santos last week with a 2-1 victory in Richards Bay over Milano United, the result taking them up to 20 points from eight games.
Stellenbosch FC meanwhile are second, five points behind Thanda, after they leapfrogged Jomo Cosmos on the table with a 3-1 win at Coetzenburg. Goals from Tshepo Mabua and Diego Brown put the hosts 2-0 up after only 10 minutes. Stanley Muishond got the third, though he also missed a later penalty. Brice Aka got Cosmos’ goal from the penalty spot while both Aka and Junaid Sait received red cards.
Eagles were 4-1 victors away at FC Cape Town, the KZN side now with 10 goals in their last two games. Selwyn George did the damage for Eagles, following up last week’s four goals against Magesi with a hat-trick of goals against the African Beasts. The other goal came from Raymond Monama, while Ranga Chivaviro netted for the Cape team.
AmaTuks’ woes meanwhile continued when they lost 3-1 at the Kanyamazane Stadium to Mbombela United, having lost 2-0 to Witbank Spurs on the weekend. The result keeps Shaun Bartlett’s team in the bottom half of the table.
Witbank Spurs compounded the problems of another former PSL side, AmaZulu, with a 1-0 win at the Puma Rugby Stadium. The only goal came from Sici Shelembe.
Magesi were able to avoid a third straight defeat when they held Santos to a 0-0 draw at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.
Meanwhile at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium, two late goals by Chileshe Kangwa earned Mthatha Bucks a 2-2 draw away at Real Kings.
Black Leopards, who started the day in fifth position, came from behind to earn a point against Cape Town All Stars in a 1-1 draw at Athlone. Sipho Zwane put Stars in front, but a lapse at the back allowed Ivan Mahangwahaya to score for the Limpopo team.
Wednesday’s results:

Magesi FC 0-0 Santos
