McCarthy joins Cape Town City

Benni McCarthy has been appointed the new coach of Cape Town City after being unveiled at a press briefing on Tuesday.

“First and foremost I must thank the chairman and the club for having the faith in me and think I am the right guy to lead the team.

“I know people will say I am inexperienced, all I can say I have seen the best managers in the world fail, so why not try someone new?” McCarthy said.

“I am grateful my first opportunity it with my hometown club, with the players, board and technical team, that has already been successful, hope we will be able to change Cape Town football again and compete with the giants in Johannesburg.”

City owner John Comitis says he believes he has found the right man to take the club forward.

“I believe I have made the perfect decision for this club,” Comitis said.
