Thobejane revels in play-off success

Baroka head coach Kgoloko Thobejane says he remained confident throughout a turbulent season that his side would retain their Premiership status.

Bakgaga managed to see off the challenge of rivals Black Leopards and Stellenbosch FC in the promotion/relegation play-offs for the final spot in the South African top-flight.

The 1-1 draw in Thohoyandou left the National First Division sides trailing Thobejane's men by three and five points respectively.

Despite picking up only five wins all season and with three different head coaches, the former PE teacher managed to steer the unfancied club to safety in the final weeks of this season.

Now after beating the drop against all odds, the eccentric manager claims the inexperienced club have learned valuable lessons in their first season in the top-flight, and will showcase their true ability this coming campaign.

"They knew we were here just to wrap up [the play-offs], we are still in the PSL," he said after the game.

"I have said all along we would not go out of this league, and come next season you will see all the best of Baroka."
