Manyama moving to Turkey

Lebogang Manyama’s anticipated move away from Cape Town City has been confirmed after the club announced the sale of the Absa Premiership player of the season to Turkey.

Manyama will join Konyaspor subject to passing a medical which he will under take when he goes to Turkey after South Africa’s two World Cup qualifying matches against the Cape Verde Islands, away on Friday and at home in Durban on Tuesday.

Cape Town City gave no details of the transfer fee nor Manyama’s contract but ended speculation over his future after Manyama was left out of the team for last weekend’s MTN8 semifinal first leg against Bidvest Wits,

The 26-year-old, originally from Alexandria, previously played at Ajax Cape Town, SuperSport United and Mpumalanga Black Aces before a sensational season with City in the last campaign.

He joins a long list of South Africans who have made to the move to Turkey over the last 25 years, including Fani Madida, John Moshoeu, Steve Komphela and Helman Mkhalele.

Konyaspor play in this year’s Uefa Europa League and have players from Burkina Faso, the Ivory Coast, Gabon and Nigeria in their squad.
