Upbeat Orlando Pirates host SuperSport United

Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United will renew their rivalry with a DStv Premiership clash at Orlando Stadium on Saturday 21 November 2020.

Kick-off at 18h00.

This comes at the back of an emphatic performance by Orlando Pirates in the MTN8 against rivals, Kaizer Chiefs.

Orlando Pirates claimed their first win of the season when Siphesihle Ndlovu’s late goal secured a 1-0 win at Bloemfontein Celtic on November 4.

The Buccaneers’ only previous home match this term saw them held 1-1 by Stellenbosch FC in late October.

SuperSport United returned to winning form in the league when they defeated Stellenbosch 1-0 at home on November 4, with a late goal from Teboho Mokoena.

Matsatsantsa’s only away match so far this term saw them beaten 3-1 at Golden Arrows in late October, though Mokoena also netted in that game.

In head-to-head stats, Pirates and SuperSport have met in 58 league matches since 1990. The Buccaneers have claimed 24 wins compared to 19 for Matsatsantsa, while 15 games have been drawn. The Soweto side has won 14 of their 29 home league matches against their Soweto counterparts, suffering six defeats in the process.

Last season SuperSport thumped Pirates 3-0 at the Mbombela Stadium in August 2019, with goals from Bradley Grobler (two) and Ghampani Lungu, but the Soweto side claimed revenge with a 2-1 triumph at Ellis Park in August 2020, through strikes from Vincent Pule and Zakhele Lepasa.

Pirates’ line-up from their 1-0 win over Celtic on November 4: Ofori, Jooste (Mabaso 87’), Nyauza, Jele, Maela, Monare (Mako 59’), Motshwari, Lorch (Hotto 15’), Pule (Makaringe 87’), Dzvukamanja (Ndlovu 59’), Lepasa.
