Arrows beat Chippa to rise up to fourth
Golden Arrows moved up to fourth spot on the 2020-21 DStv Premiership standings with a 1-0 win over Chippa United at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday.
Arrows remain one of three teams, alongside Mamelodi Sundowns and Swallows FC, yet to lose a game this season. A fourth defeat in five matches leaves Chippa in 14th spot on the league standings, a place above the relegation zone.
Both Abafana Bes’thende and Chippa showed their desire from the onset but neither team could conjure any noteworthy chances in the first-half as the two teams headed into the half-time break deadlocked at 0-0.
The only goal of the game came through second-half substitute Lindokuhle Mtshali in the 73rd minute. The winger found the back of the net for his first league goal seven minutes after rising off the bench.
Chippa pushed forward in search of the equaliser in the closing stages of the match, but Arrows' defence held firm.
Arrows return to action at home to Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila next Saturday while the Chilli Boys will be away to TS Galaxy, in a match between two teams struggling at the wrong end of the league standings on the same day.
