Ashley du Preez scored the decisive goal of the game 10 minutes into the second-half to move the Maroons up to second on the league standings, level on four points with six other teams after two rounds of fixtures.

Galaxy, who had captain Pogiso Sanoka sent off early in the first-half, remain winless following a 0-0 draw at home to Kaizer Chiefs last weekend.

The Rockets got off to the worst possible start as seven minutes into the encounter Sanoka received his marching orders after handling the ball inside the penalty area.

Stellies almost immediately made their numerical advantage count as Stanley Dimgba took aim at goal from a set-piece situation, but Vasilije Kolak was up to the task.

The hosts had the ball in the back of the net in the 33rd minute. Junior Mendieta teed up Judas Moseamedi who beat Kolak but the assistant referee's flag was raised for offside.

Stellies finally broke the deadlock in the 55th minute with what proved to be the only goal of the match. Dimgba weaved his way past three Galaxy defenders before finding Du Preez who tapped the ball into the back of the net to lead the hosts to all three points.
