Sekhukhune United came from behind to hold Stellenbosch FC to a 1-1 draw in a 2021/22 DStv Premiership match at Emirates Airline Park on Saturday.

Babina Noko equalised in the second-half following an early goal for the visitors in Johannesburg. The result moved Sekhukhune up to fourth on the league standings while Stellies will end the night in top spot having stretched their unbeaten start to the campaign.

The Maroons hit the front after just seven minutes. Junior Mendieta tried his luck from range and the decision paid dividends as his attempt rattled the woodwork before finding the back of the net.

But Sekhukhune were able to conjure a point as Chibuike Ohizu continued from where he left off before the international break with the equalising goal. Yusuf Maart found the Nigerian from a free-kick and Ohizu made no mistake for his third goal in two matches.

Both teams will return to action next weekend. Stellies are away to local rivals Cape Town City while Sekhukhune will face off against Limpopo counterparts Baroka FC.
