The result saw the Chilli Boys and Amaswaiswai remain in 14th and 13th spot on the league standings respectively, and both teams are now winless in their last seven matches in the competition.

The Chilli Boys started the match brightly with Riaan Hanamub delivering a great cross for Roscoe Pietersen, whose header was saved by goalkeeper Jody February just five minutes into the encounter.

The hosts continued to control the match towards the half-hour mark with Mogakoldi Ngele seeing a lot of the ball in the visitors' half and he was afforded time, and space on the edge of the visitors' box. The Botswana international pulled the trigger with his weaker right foot and his thunderous deflected shot beat February hands down, but the crossbar came to Amaswaiswai's rescue.

Ngele then delivered a well-taken corner-kick which found Pietersen, whose goal-bound header was cleared away by Mwape Musonda just before half-time; and the score was 0-0 at the interval in Mdantsane.

Swallows came back rejuvenated following their half-time team talk with coach Brandon Truter and they should have taken the lead after some good work by Mamelodi Sundowns loanee Grant Margeman in the box.

The diminutive playmaker played a backheel pass for Musonda, who was bravely denied by keeper Ayanda Mtshali from close range and Thabo Matlaba fired over the crossbar from the rebound just after the restart.

Both teams made changes as they looked to break the deadlock with Amaswaiswai introducing Kagiso Malinga and Keletso Makgalwa, while Sizwe Mdlinzo and Thokozani Sekotlong came on for Chippa.

It was end-to-end stuff in the closing stages of the game with Bienvenu Eva Nga being denied from close range by February and at the other end, Mtshali blocked a shot from Makgalwa, who had been sent through on goal, and ultimately, the match ended in a 0-0 draw.
