Richards Bay secure DStv Prem promotion

Richards Bay secured their spot in the DStv Premiership for next season, following their 0-0 draw against Cape Town Spurs at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

All eyes were on the final day of the GladAfrica Championship, as the race for automatic promotion went down to the wire.

The Natal Rich Boyz needed a point in their game against the Mother City outfit to earn their place in South Africa’s top flight, as supporters came out in their numbers to witness their promotion.

Elsewhere, the University of Pretoria ended their league campaign in second spot following their 0-0 stalemate against Hungry Lions. The result means that Tuks will have to battle it out in the promotion play-offs in the hope of playing in the DStv Premiership next season.

Pretoria Callies hosted the relegated Jomo Cosmos at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium this weekend, with the visitors coming away with all three points in a 2-1 victory.

Uthongathi were at home to TS Sporting in their final league match on Sunday afternoon, as they claimed maximum points in a 1-0 win at the Princes Magogo Stadium.

Over in the Mother City, JDR Stars beat Cape Town All Stars at the Idas Valley Sports Ground in a 1-0 victory, while Polokwane City collected three points in their fixture against TTM following a 4-2 win.

Black Leopards ended their season on a high with their 5-0 win away win over Platinum City Rovers at the Olen Park Stadium. Also, Venda football academy and Free State Stars shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at the Thohoyandou Stadium.
