Milford lose ground at Motsepe Foundation Championship summit
With local football resuming this week, Milford FC lost ground at the top of the Motsepe Foundation Championship table following their defeat to Hungry Lions while the likes of Venda Football Academy and Cape Town Spurs continue to drop crucial points.
On the back of recording three consecutive wins, Milford started matchday 11 with a 2-1 loss against Hungry Lions at the Suzuki Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
While Milford remained on 23 points, Hungry Lions bagged their fourth victory of the campaign with 15 points to their name so far.
Also losing ground at the top end of the table, the high-flying Black Leopards and Upington City shared the spoils in a tense 1-1 stalemate at the Thohoyandou Stadium on Saturday.
As Lidoda Duvha jot down back-to-back draws, Upington City extended their winless streak to five games.
At the lower end of the log, Cape Town Spurs remain winless in their last seven league outings following their 1-1 draw with Baroka at the popular Athlone Stadium this weekend.
Meanwhile, bottom-of-the-log Venda Football Academy slumped to their seventh defeat of the 2024/25 campaign after a 2-1 result at the Soshanguve Giant Stadium.
As it stands, Venda recorded just eight points in 11 games played in South Africa’s first division.
