Durban City and Golden Arrows played out a goalless stalemate in their Betway Premiership match at the Chatsworth Stadium in Durban on Wednesday evening.

A clash which kicked off slightly late due to wet conditions ultimately saw the KwaZulu-Natal rivals cancel each other out.

The result left Abafana Bes’thende in ninth place after a second straight draw, while the Citizens are down in 15th spot after registering their first point of the season.

Durban City bossed possession and had numerous attempts at goal through the first half, though the only notable efforts came from Tylo Sanger and Gaston Sirino, who warmed the palms of Arrows goalkeeper Edward Maova.

Arrows offered up the occasional threat on the counter attack, with midfielder Nhlanhla Zwane having a shot on target, but they otherwise failed to trouble Durban goalkeeper Fredrick Asare.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with the Citizens continuing to create chances and test out Maova, while Abafana Bes’thende looked to strike on transitions.

Playing progressive football proved difficult on a field which was damp and cut up badly as the match wore on, and tension both on and off the pitch climbed as the clock ticked on.

However, the match closed with no goals scored and the spoils shared in Chatsworth.

The teams will return to Premiership action this coming weekend, with Durban at home to Richards Bay on Saturday 15 August, and Arrows away to TS Galaxy the following day.
