Polokwane City and Milford FC played out a goalless stalemate in their Betway Premiership match played at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The result sees the newly-promoted Stallions continue their impressive start to life in the top flight, as they are placed fifth on the log after collecting seven points from their first four matches.

Rise and Shine have claimed five points and sit in 10th place.

Chances were hard to come by in the first half, with neither Polokwane nor Milford able to find their rhythm in attack.

The result was just one tame effort on target through the first 45 minutes, leaving respective goalkeepers Ayanda Ngwenya and Siphamandla Hleza seriously under-utilised.

And the second half followed a similar pattern. Milford did have one notable effort soon after the restart, with Mvelo Zikakayo shooting on target from long range, but it resulted in an easy save for Ngwenya.

Rise and Shine looked to shuffle their attack by introducing the likes of Tlou Nkwe, Ndamulelo Maphangule, Juan Mutudza and Raymond Daniels, while the Stallions turned to the likes of Bulelani Sigomoshe, Jabu Gxakoshe and Sikhusele Joyi – yet the nets at either end remained firmly un-rippled.

Polokwane came closest to breaking the deadlock in the 84th minute when Manuel Kambala unleashed a fine drive from outside the box, but Hleza dived sharply to his right to turn the shot away.

The teams will return to Premiership action on the first weekend of September, with Polokwane away to Marumo Gallants, and Milford visiting Chippa United.
