Doutie saves SuperSport
Goals from Rodney Ramagalela, Brian Abbas Amidu and Samuel Mabunda saw Black Leopards come from two goals behind to take the lead against SuperSport United before a late goal from Sameehg Doutie earned the Matsatsantsa a share of the spoils in their Absa Premiership on Sunday afternoon.
It was a six goal thriller in Polokwane at the Peter Mokaba Stadium as the game ended 3-3 as Gavin Hunt saw his sides unbeaten continue.
The game, however, certainly didn’t start badly for SuperSport as they took the lead early on through Clifford Mulenga in the 15th minute.
The Zambian made his way into the box and produced a clinical finish, finding the bottom right-hand corner of the goal with a well-placed shot, 1-0.
Four minutes later and United had doubled their lead through Mabhuti Khenyeza, making it the perfect start for the visitors.
This time Mulenga turned provider as he played Khenyeza through on goal and he was just as clinical as his fellow striker with a powerful shot form roughly 12-yards out which found the back of the net, 2-0.
Leopards, though, were not to be outdone and fought back, and they were able to pull a goal back in the 27th minute through Ramagalela.
The Leopard’s player was in the right place at the right time as he pounced on a Raymond Monama shot which bounced off the woodwork and Ramagalela was there to tuck the ball home from close range, 2-1.
United, however, finished the stronger of the two sides and only a great save from Postnett Omony kept his side one goal behind seconds before the half time whistle.
Mulenga let rip with a stinging drive from just outside the box, but the Leopards’ keeper flung himself across his goal to tip the shot around the post.
The second half saw the home side in full dominance as they outplayed Hunt’s men and it only took six minutes into the half for them to equalise.
Mogezi Bobe provided a great pass across the face of goal and Amidu was at the back post to drive the ball home from six-yards out, 2-2.
Four minutes later and Leopards took the lead from a well-worked set piece.
Monama produced an in-swinging corner-kick which was met by the head of Mabunda, the Leopards man rising above the United defence to head the ball home in emphatic fashion, 3-2.
SuperSport tried to find their way back into the game and just as all seemed lost, substitute Sameehg Doutie found an equaliser for the visitors in the dying seconds of the match.
A swift passing move saw Doutie in space inside the box and he placed a shot beyond Omony to earn SuperSport a share of the spoils, 3-3.
