Leopards desperate for points against Sundowns

Black Leopards will be desperate for a victory when they host Mamelodi Sundowns for an Absa Premiership clash at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Tuesday, 7 May 2013, kick-off at 19h30.

Leopards suffered a fifth loss from their last six league games last midweek when they were comprehensively defeated 4-0 away by AmaZulu.

The Limpopo side will need to improve on their home record, which has seen them win just three of 14 matches and suffer seven defeats.

Lidoda Duvha are placed 16th on the Absa Premiership log with 23 points from 27 matches. They need to win this game in hand to rise off the bottom of the table.

Sundowns returned to winning ways last midweek when they defeated Free State Stars 2-1 at home.

The Tshwane side has won just three of their 13 away matches this season and need to improve on that record if they are to rise into the top eight.

The Brazilians are placed 11th on the Absa Premiership log with 32 points from 27 matches.

In head-to-head stats, Leopards and Sundowns have met in 17 league matches since 2001/02.

The Brazilians have claimed 10 wins to Lidoda Duvha’s five, while just two matches have been drawn.

Leopards have won four of the eight home matches they have had against ‘Downs, suffering three defeats in the process.

When the teams met earlier this season, the Brazilians won 1-0 at home thanks to a goal from Mphela.
