Polokwane substitute Mncwango downs Aces

An inspired substitution by Polokwane City which saw the introduction of Thobani Mncwango four minutes before halftime resulted in ‘Rise & Shine’ beating MP Black Aces 2-1 in an Absa Premiership match at the Kanyamazne stadium on Saturday.

The game was rather dull before the introduction of Mncwango who scored the opening goal and created the second in Polokwan’s third win in a row in the league.

The first half was a rather dull affair, but the game sprang into life a minute into the second half when Mncwango opened the scoring with a clinical finish, 1-0.

Ten minutes later Mncwango should good vision to set Puleng Tloane into space and he duly finished to double the away side’s lead, 2-0.

Aces took control of the game after that, but they struggled to break down a resilient Polokwane defence

Aces did manage a consolation goal five minutes form time courtesy of a Collins Mbesuma goal, 2-1, but it was too little too late.

The win is Polokwane’s third in a row and sees them up to 13 points on the league table, while the loss for Aces ended a seven game unbeaten streak.
