City draw with United

Substitute Rendani Ndou earned Polokwane City a point when he cancelled out Bradley Grobler’s goal in a 1-1 draw away at SuperSport United in the Absa Premiership.

Ndou netted in the 73rd minute after having come on as a substitute for Puleng Tlolane a minute before. Grobler had netted in the 22nd minute at Atteridgeville.

It was the visitors that showed no respect to the home team in the 3rd minute when Maxwell Molala beat two SuperSport defenders but his cross was in vain as it found nobody.

In the fourth minute Dove Wome came back with a shot to test Polokwane City’s goalkeeper Modiri Marumo just outside the box but his shot went wide.

SuperSport’s dominance paid off when Grobler smashed the ball home from close range to give Matsatsansta a Pitori a 1-0 lead.

In the 27th minute Ndlovu’s effort was denied by Marumo who handled the ball comfortably.

Towards the end of the first half Polokwane City tried their best to take the game to the halftime level in score but they were denied by Ronwen Williams.

The second half began with neither team creating too many clear cut chances and substitutions were made to try and change the game.

Zambian defender Joseph Musonda did get forward in search of a goal early in the second half, but while he did well to get a shot in, it was wide of the target.

When City took off star striker Puleng Tlolane for Rendani Ndou they could not have asked for more impact. A minute after being brought on, Ndou had scored.

After some good work by Esau Kanyenda to set up the opportunity, Ndou netted with his left foot for a share of the spoils.

Jabu Maluleke probably had the best chance to grab a late winner for Polokwane against his former team SuperSport, but he pulled his shot wide of the goal.
