Polokwane, Wits play to a stalemate
Bidvest Wits failed to avenge their 2-0 defeat in the first round of the league when they played to a 1-1 draw against Polokwane City on Saturday night at Peter Mokaba Stadium.
The draw puts the Clever Boys to position four with 41 points on the Absa Premiership table, while the Citizens remain placed on the eight spot with 34 points, both with six matches to wrap up the season.
The hosts took the game to the visitors and as early as the third minute Tokelo Langa took a shot but experienced goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs safely held on the ball. A few minutes later, Kabelo Lichaba followed up but missed to the left of the target.
In the fourth minute, a good pass from Rendani Ndou to Puleng Tlolane changed the atmosphere of the game as he made it 1-0 from outside the box.
In the 11th minute the Braamfontein side looked for a swift response through Dillon Sheppard, however, his effort from range went wide.
Four minutes later, the big Namibian-born striker, Henrico Botes, equalised with a fine header and the goal gave the Students some motivation going forward.
