SuperSport bounce back to winning ways

SuperSport United bounced back to winning ways in emphatic fashion after beating Bloemfontein Celtic 4-2 in an Absa Premiership match at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Celtic started positively and had the first decent shot on goal in the seventh minute, but Menzi Masuku was superbly denied by goalkeeper Reyaad Pieterse.

The visitors continued to push forward and found the opening goal in the 18th minute when Jacky Motshegwa drove into the box after beating one defender and made no mistake with just the keeper to beat, 1-0.

SuperSport managed to equalise on the half hour mark when a loose ball inside the box fell to Mogakolodi Ngele and he coolly slotted past Patrick Tignyemb, 1-1.

In the 39th minute SuperSport took the lead after a wayward pass in defence by Celtic allowed Evans Rusike to pick up the loose ball and he made no mistake with just the keeper to beat, 2-1.

Celtic tried to find and equaliser, but were unable to do so before the halftime break.

The away team came out with a determined attitude at the start of the second half, but like the first half their final pass kept letting them down.

Nonetheless, Celtic did find an equaliser on the hour mark after another mistake in defence, this time by SuperSport, allowed Ndumiso Mabena to latch onto a poor clearance and fire it home, 2-2.

Celtic’s joy, though, was short-lived as SuperSport took the lead for the second time in the 74th minute when substitute Teboho Mokoena played the perfect pass to Aubrey Modiba and he produce a fine finish from just inside the box, 3-2.

The match was over as a contest in the 83rd minute after a swift passing movement from SuperSport concluded with Mokoena slotting the ball past the Celtic keeper from 16-yards out, 4-2.
