Rise and Shine downed by Celtic

Bloemfontein Celtic came from behind to beat Polokwane City 2-1 at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, to end their winless run in the Absa Premiership on Wednesday evening.

Siwelele were reduced to ten men halfway through the second half as Given Mashikinya received his marching orders, but Ndumiso Mabena would score a late winner for the visitors as they returned to winning ways in the league.

Victory moves Celtic up to ninth place on the log standings, a point behind eighth placed Highlands Park while Polokwane City remain sixth.

Jabulani Maluleke continued his superb run of form, opening the scoring in the 24th minute, but Celtic would level matters before the break as Kabelo Dlamini struck home a crisp free-kick.

The referee sent off Siwelele midfielder Mashikinya in the 67th minute, but Celtic never gave up and had a chance to go a goal up 11 minutes later following a foul inside the area.

Mabena stepped up to take the penalty, but failed to beat George Chigova who made a good save.

The striker, though, would have the last laugh as he scored with virtually the final kick of the game to secure all three points for the visitors.
