AmaZulu summon up Usuthu pride in 2019/20 kit

AmaZulu FC club has paid homage to His Majesty King Goodwill Zwelithini in this season’s official Umbro playing kit for the new season.

On the front of the trendy emerald green home jersey rests the eye-catching king of the animal kingdom with a glaring stare as if ready to pounce at its opponent in battle.

The IsiZulu translation of the lion, is, Ingonyama which is commonly used in reference to celebrate the King.

Both the home and away kits were unveiled amid much fanfare at the Spar Distribution Centre in Phoenix, as AmaZulu also announced their 2-year sponsorship renewal with headline sponsors, Spar on 24 July 2019.

AmaZulu General Manager, Lunga Sokhela said: “We’re humbled by the continued backing of the Royal family. Our kit pays homage to the club patron, His Majesty King Goodwill Zwelithini and the whole of the Zulu nation.”

“It’s to say we’re fully appreciative of the rich history behind the brand and want the same conquering spirit of the Zulu nation to carry us through this season.”

Sokhela went on the thank the Spar Group’s commitment ahead of the start of the season.

“As a club, we are very excited to announce that we have agreed to extend our contract with the Spar Group as the headline sponsor for another two years. It’s a relationship that has lasted for over two decades.”

“We really appreciate the continued support and belief that Spar has with us. We’re also excited to extend partnerships with all our other sponsors and partners beyond this season as we know that sponsors become the lifeblood of the club and allow the club to function.”

“We’re continuing to work hard with them and in creating since they’ve shown a lot of faith by staying with us,” continued Sokhela in reference to the club’s partnership with Durban Tourism, Ukhozi FM and Ilanga.
