Introducing: The Magic FC
The club booked their place in the Last 32 of the Nedbank Cup after beating last year’s Western Cape representatives, University of Stellenbosch, 1-0 in their provincial final.
The club may be flying in the club, but have battled in the league with the extra Nedbank Cup preliminary matches; though Dearnaley says it has been a great experience.
“This cup run has brought us all closer together and for the players it is great to think that the next set of kit they get will actually have their names on the back. That is a huge deal for them.
“At least we know why we have done badly, it is not that we are a bad side as our cup results show, but our younger players struggle to focus on two fronts.”
The Magic FC is coached by another former Bafana striker, ex Santos and Hellenic forward Gerald Stober, with ex-national team goalkeeper Mark Anderson also previously involved.
The team draws its players mostly from Cape Town and are a young squad light on top-flight experience.
This will be first appearance in the Nedbank Cup Last 32.
